tantrums
Caroline has started to go into an eating tantrum. Anytime we put her in her high chair to eat anything besides Mac & Cheese or Chicken Nuggets, she starts wailing, throwing food, etc. Now SHould I just feed her what she wants and not worry about exposing her to other food? But I do not want to have to cook two dinners for the next couple of years. Or just put it in frount of her, let her do her thing, then when we are done eating, let her leave w/ us??

*here's why I'm cautious. we are on our 3rd round of antibotics for her ear infection.

We've had it since before Thanksgiving. I feel bad letting her cry, becaue I know it eventually bothers her ears....... but I do know that IS NOT the reason for the meal time meltdowns. The timing is just to perfect. So should I wait till it's over then try something!!

Cara,I guess I am lucky when it comes to food w my Lexi. She eats anything I put in front of her. Here is what I do for her so I will never make 2 dinners.I open up a can of greenbeans,veg-all,carrots,and fruit of some kind;if I make mac and cheese,I make extra.I put these in a rubbermaid bowl.My other kids do not touch these 5 bowls.I buy her ,her own chicken nugget pkg at Walmart. It lasts for a week or 2.At lunch I give her a lil of 1 veg,1 fruit and 4 chicken nuggets cut up.My mom told me a long time ago when your child is 3 and under feed her/him when she is hungry. My children are small boned and skinny.I was also when I was younger.(God knows that caught up w/ me)lol. After 4 r 5 days I replace the vegs in the bowls. This has helped me so much in feeding her.We eat different things sometimes and if she isnt allowed to eat it;I have her bowls to fall back on.

One more thing Cara,I also have Lexi snacks.I have dried fruit, yogurt pretzels,Ritz crackers, reg crackers no salt and I just started letting her have tortilla chips; but they have to be healthy 1's.Shes not allowed to have chocolate or sodas. We let her have at xmas 2 xs a sucker in her high chair.Other then that, she eats healthy foods that have sugar in it like the fruits.Oh and far as your 3rd round of antibiotics,I hate to tell you this but it is time to get tubes in her ears.I had a friend Dannielle that her son was in and out of the drs office for about 8 months w antibiotics and finally her friend told her OMG do you know how bad it is that hes having so much ear inf. and antibiotics? The constant ear inf. can have irreperable(spelling) damage each time on the ears and the antibiotics can stop working, get immune to them.Get different antibiotics:same situation. She of course said no; what else can I do ,and her friend said go to an ear specialist and in 1 month she had tubes in her boy's ears and hes a new child.Hope all this helps you.Sorry I didnt see it at xmas.

I went throught the same thing with my son a few months back. Everything I put on his plate besides chicken nuggets ended up all over my walls and floor. I tried all sorts of things to get him to eat, even sitting by him and taking a bite or two of his food to show him it was yummy. But he wanted nothing to do with it. However he did start liking hotdogs( I got him the low sodium turkey dogs) at that time, but I couldn't let him eat only hotdogs. So I started making foods he did like i.e.spaghetti, mac n cheese, and rice, in excess and gave him that when he didn't want to eat what I was. I think most children go through this phase. My mom tells me it's all about texture, color and smell. I think it's insane but my son has started liking more foods these days. He will try things now that he wouldn't touch before. Granted I can't get him to eat veggies for anything but I'm still working on that. Keeping extra food on hand that she likes is your best bet and of course frozen chicken nuggets are very convenient. Oh I almost forgot, during that time my son liked cod fish sticks, no strong fishy flavor but they were coated so maybe he thought it was chicken nuggets, lol. Good luck though.
