Ok so everyone tells me my baby is cute :-) and of course I think so but I'm totally biased! Well we were thinking it might be fun to do a little bit of baby modeling. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about baby modeling and a talent scout off the web called My Child Models (she was accepted by them but I don't want to buy into anything if they arn't good). I did read somewhere that you shouldn't buy into anything but everything that I've found wants to "sell" you talent agents info..any suggestions comments? anything would be helpful! |

I know how you feel! We all believe our babies our cute! But they really are Right!! With my little one everybody stops us and says how beautiful our baby is! And she should model! And I truly believe it too! She is really beautiful and has a magnificent smile, she has such beautiful features... anyways back to you.... So we went to a modeling agency and they wanted $1400 to get her started. Be careful, I too believe if you have to buy into it, they might just want your money!!! I dont know of any legitimate baby modeling agencies, but she was also accepted by My Child Models=). Good luck! Let me know if you find one =) |

A legitimate agency will never ask you to pay a fee. They will ask you to get some professional photos taken, but will not require you to pay for accepting your child. It may be suggested that older children take lessons- beware if it is the same agency wanting you to pay them for the lessons.
My mother's whole family were child models and I modeled as a teenager. Please take into account the psychological effects that modeling has on a child. I know that in my mother's family (nearly 50 years later) there are still insecurities surrounding self image for those who did not receive as much work as the others. I have a very poor relationship with my sister for the same reason. Then, there is also the fact that a child is being scrutinized not for who they are but for what they look like-and what the talent scout is in the mood for that day. It took many years for me to realize that I mattered as a person not just as a piece of meat. The modeling world is very fickle and can be brutal- no matter the age of the model.
It is always fun to think our children could do something exciting and glamorous. Just keep the consequences in mind. |
