I read on Yahoo the other day that NJ abolished the Death Penalty. There were several ppl set up for it in the next few months.Among the 1's that were to die were repeat offenders that had done thir time gotten out and repeated their offenses and killed or killed again.Repeat rapist and child molesters were in the group to be sentenced to death. Now they have been spared.Should we keep ppl like that alive to muck up our judicial system? They cost us millions of dollars a year until they get sentenced to die in the states that have the death penalty.Should we keep ppl like that in our prisons ,when they are so full now of repeat offenders?Did you know that ppl that kill their children get 6 to 18 yrs and an offered parole after 2 r 3 yrs?But if I was to go out and kill a person on the street I would get 25 yrs to life? And maybe no parole? This is how bad our judicial system has gotten. What do you think? |

Oh my you come up with some good topics, and I am probably putting my foot in my mouth here but I have very strong beliefs on this as well, surprise surprise! First off, our judicial system and government, and psychiatrists and behavioral analysts need to all get together and come to a conclusion when it comes to what offenders can or cannot be rehabilitated. I can tell you that sex offenders and molesters can not be rehabilitated, and serial killers can not be rehabbed. In a way, I do not believe in the death penaly, and this is why...It is too humain! These psychos killed mamed, raped, tortured people and they get to peacefully go to sleep and not wake up? Where is the justic in that, did their victims die peacefully? They deserve to die slow painful deaths in the manner in which they killed their last victim. My idea for this was to take all of these people, people on death row, people that are lifers with no chance of parole and use them for medical testing, use them instead of lab rats to find cures for aids, cancer, or even to make safer vaccinations!!! |

OMG!!!Are we twins?I knew I liked you when we first talked;lol!I think the same things and when I said that in my class, I was lucky that they didnt take me outside and stone me!But, I am for the death penalty; because the ppl wont do that.I did my thesis report for my last grade in Criminology Class on the death penalty and the ways you can humanely kill ppl.It isnt right for us to come up w/ millions of tax payers money to pay for some worthless lifer prisonmate to live out his days and use our lawyers for free, eat for free, free insurance to get new teeth,or body parts, and use electricity for free;when there are homeless ppl or ppl that work hard everyday and cant pay all their bills on time because they dont make enough money.Well thats my opinion. |

I also took a criminology class in college where we visited a county jail and then a state prison. Forget about the electricity, food, insurance, they have computers in their cells stereos, tvs and when we did the walk through, I saw a guy out of his cell ironing. I asked the corrections officer why it was exactly that they were entitled to so much when there are families out there that ca not afford stereos, cable, or computers, his response was , "So we have something to take away when they act up"......How about taking away food or daylight? I understand how it would be inhumane in a way to use them for medical testing, but they don't deserve to be treated humanely, and I am not talking about robbery or drugs even, but rape, molesting and murdering....They do not deserve to have a decent life in a warm environment, where all their needs are met. Some good should come out of their life, hence the medical testing. I know it will never happen, unless of course I run for president and win, which, I have been thinking of doing, lol.

Love,Love, Love the idea on medical testing. If there going to take up space in our prison systom why not make good use out of them. I also believe in the death penatly I think it is to humane for some of those scary people but, they will have to answer to the higher power so death is not really the easy way out. There life in prison is too cushy. And those that kill their children oh it just makes me sick to think about it. I cannot even watch TV shows anymore with children as any kind of victom we turm it off. Well thats my view I am on the same page as you Valerie |

Well I was hoping that every state would adopt the death penalty and after 2 r 3 yrs theyd kill them off and do it w lethal injection so that when theyd put them to sleep they could remove all the good organs to donate them off to ppl who needed them.Than as soon as they got what they needed from the inmate ,they could put the lethal drug in the IV.Do you realize how many ppl in this world on our waiting list would be saved instead of dying after 5 r 6 yrs on a waiting list?Eyes/lungs/heart/pancreas/liver/kidneys/bone marrow could be taken and they drain all the blood for emablming. That could go to the blood center. Then the body could go to the medical center for medical students to learn to be drs.Itd be like indians in the past;they use every piece of a buffalo.Nothing is wasted. Now count all the ppl that could be saved by 1 inmate.Id vote for it! |

I usually don't comment, but between this & the immunizations/autism tie- you got me! :)
For starters, WHY do they use alcohol to sterilize where they are putting the needle when they kill someone?! Fear of infection?!
OK, seriously, I used to be for the death penalty (screw the electric chair, make it a couch!) BUT, my opinions have changed. My reasoning was because i don't want to pay to keep these scumbags alive when we have kind/sad/sick people living on the streets that would LOVE prison accommodations! It costs so much more to keep them on death row (vs. life in prison) that I lost that argument. Then Illinois had HALF of their people removed from death row because DNA or other evidence cleared them... what if it was someone you love that is wrongly charged- you can't say 'oops'... and don't worry, I do know that truly innocent people are rarely put on death row (they just got caught for one crime they didn't do)!
I think that we should have a new version of Alcatraz-give them seeds & animals & let them fend for themselves. If they kill each other- so be it!
As far as recidivism... child molesters are a truly scary bunch- they need a place to live (island, planet?!) where there are no children! |

I think that in this day and age, with the advanced tests they have, there are rarely the mistakes in identity that there used to be. The people we are hearing about now with the mistaken identity are people who were accused and tried and found guilty in a much different time. I feel truly bad for those that were wrongly accused and or wrongly put to death. They look at giving someone life in prison as a punishment, when for some of these people it is a paid vacation.....and we are paying for it. They are supposed to be so upset with what they did, and having to live and think about it everyday is punishment, but some of these sociopaths, their last victim was just a trophy, it doesn't weigh on their mind they have no remorse. They should allow the families of the victims to decide not only to put them to death, but allow them to decide how....I also agree with you and have wondered the same thing, why the alcohol swipe before the stick???? Is it just the right thing to do? |

Why do the topics I feel so strongly about come up when i have no time to write...ARGHHH..so quick thought...
I agree with Sandi and the wrongfully accused... It actually happens alot even though they have all kids of accurate ways to test DNA and other things..I have lots of "law enforcement" of many kinds in the family...so this has come up quite a few times and even as family we have different views... but sometimes the wrong person does get accused because "they" (government athorities) need to "catch the bad guy" to satisfy the victims family. This is nothing new it has been going on for years. Fortunatly everyone in my family agrees how wrong this is..unfortunatly there is only so much people can do... That said, that is why Im against it, only because there are people who dont deserve it. On the other hand there are people in jails who did do the wring thing and want to change their life around...maybe they found their conscience or maybe found God.. Whether they killed someone or stole something simple like gum..it is all the same in Gods eyes..A SIN... All we can do is pray for these people in hopes they will change and not harm our families. At the same time, dont get me wrong, I do have ill feelings for those who do deserve everything they get..I am only human and cant help but feel angry and hatred to those who DID IN FACT do harm unto others. Im no Bible thumper, there is lots for me to learn. LOL..you all know how I feel about my mother in law..God please help those thoughts!!! God has shown me ALOT this year..he has taken lives from me..given a life to me..saved my life.. Okay I have gotton of the topic..But i guess i feel like if they dont get what they deserve here on earth..God will judge them and they will get what is deserved in the end..God always has the last word.. |
