I am a new stay at home mom, my daughter is 2 months now but I don't get out very much. The really hard thing is that my husband and I moved to a new state right before I had the baby so I don't know anyone in my area. Any suggestions how to get out of the house and meet people with a new born? |

Stephanie, I was the same way and I met ppl when I started to work. Now that I have a new baby and older siblings; I do not do anything but stay at home.I feel like I am part of the woodwork at times.I have also noticed that ppl from where I came from(Texas )and ppl here in Michigan do not act the same. Some of their values, habits, and thinking are not what I grew up like.I must admit; it has made it hard for me to make friends, since I got here.I do have 1 friend now;I love her very much.I think God sent her to me;cause I had been praying everynight for a friend, just 1,and there she was, that I could talk to ,confide in,and maybe do things w/ the kids.I was ready to tell my hubby, look, guess what; I hate it here and I want to go back to Texas.I also went to the cafemom place and joined it and put in a journal for Muskegon Moms; but I havent got a reply yet.I also called my local library and asked them about their story times in hopes of finding more moms w small children. Some places have it advertised ,Momsclub.com.I called the hobby places because some of them get the momsclubs in and they set up crafts for the diff age groups.Hope that helps. |

Stephani, My oldest son was 8 weeks old when we moved to a new state.Although it is a blessing to be lucky enough to stay home with your little on you go a bit stir crazy and start talking to everyone in babytalk. I got on line to a site called meetup.com and looked in our area for other moms. I meet some of my new best friends there. We now have a playgroup that is great fun. I truly believe that to be the best mom you can be you have to have friends you can talk to that are in the same boat as you are. Also here in Nv. they have a place hcalled Family to Family connection they have different classes (free) that you can go and learn how your child is developing at her stage in life. Anyway I have meet alot on nice people there as well. I took me well over a year to start to get out. Good luck on your new adventure and I hope you meet some very nice People. Valerie |

Stephanie, Wow, I thought we were the only ones crazy enough to move right before our baby was born! But we did move all the way across the country, baby came, and I've been feeling the same way. Thanks for the info everyone! |
