Let me tell you guys, being sick and having to take care of the baby is hard. I have had a horrible sore throat and stuffed nose for the past week. My poor sweet pea has a runny nose and cough. We are two peas in a pod. Real couch potatoes. I have been trying my best to keep her entertained and beable to rest up because I NEED to get better. Today is the first day that I can swallow without cringing at the pain. Thank goodness. I am trying to get her to sleep better, but I think her stuffiness is waking her at night. Any suggestions? Thanks, Caity

I'm sorry to hear you two are not feeling well :( It sounds miserable.
I have heard that saline drops are safe for babies noses, humidifiers can help (in winter, the air can be drier due to using heaters and stuff), and those little suction-bulb thingies might help clear her nose a little bit (temporarily). Aside from that, just rest a ton, and keep the fluids coming.
Breastfeeding is going to probably help her alot during this time, I would guess, from everything I've read about breastmilk-since it's chock-full of those great antibodies that help battle illness. |

Caity, We just finished with it. While you take a much needed Steam shower/bath, but the little one in the room with you, and let that steam get to her. It will really help,. I also used the baby giggles menthol soap for the little one. It seemed to be more comfort then medical, but what ever puts them at ease. And if you can put a pillow or something under her mattress to prop it up a bit, that will help hers to drain. Hope this helps Cara |

I just went through this, My baby had a horrible stuffy nose and had a hard time feeding and kept waking up because of coughing and nose clogging. I took my baby in the bathroom and ran a hot shower and let the steam clear her nose and breast fed in there with all the steam. if you put vics vapor rup on the babies feet and chest that helps them breath and a humidifier by bed! good luck hope you get better. |
