forming words...
Hi there...

Just wondering what ages your sons spoke their 1st words.
My daycare provider thinks my son (14 months) should be speaking some words or signing his needs.
He only says, 'mamamama..." He waves bye bye, gives great hugs, and shakes his head no. No other words as of yet.
Just wondering if he is on track.
thanks!

Hi Michelle
My son is 18mos and he is just starting to say some words.
I wouldn't worry unless he is two and not talking.
He will have a spurt and just start, at least that is what people tell me.

thanks Ann..

That does make me feel better! Yes, I have heard that they just start chatting but my son is just content right now with grunts and squeals.
thanks again,
Michelle

My oldest son turned 2 on the 1st of December, he says "mama, dada, yes, please (pease), thank you (tank u), no, baby, bubba, baba, ho ho ho (santa clause), Jo Jo, bubbles". I think there are a few others but can't think right now. He just recently started saying most of them (around 22 months or so). I'm not worried about how many he can or can't say compared to other toddlers his age. His pediatrician said they will start talking, walking, etc. on their own. My youngest son 11 months says "mama, dada and baba" he also takes about 5 steps on his own which my oldest didn't do until a few days before he started walking at 13 months.

so i was wondering if you have talked to his doctor about this and what they think, my first son did say a few more words then just mama but not to many and i've heard signing is a real good way to communicate they didn't have that back when my first son was little but i'm gonna try it with my 2nd who is 6 months he doesn't say much either just screams alot so his doctor suggested a hearing test and to teach him to sign well i hope this helps some good luck

No I haven't yet spoken to my son's doctor only because i havent been especially worried. I will bring it up at the next visit. I did try a little signing earlier on and well, he didnt pay attention and i guess I just gave it up. I think it is a great idea though and fun too! I suppose they all develop at their place and I hear boys are a little slower. Not sure if this is true?
