Is it more difficult to adopt now?
Apparently rules are getting a lot stricter in countries such as China and Vietnam especially about the limit of the mother's age. Have you heard anything about it?

i've heard about china. the wait list is very long for infant girls and they have changed all kinds of requirements. . . including a net worth thing! i think adoption is getting harder in some ways but easier in others.

I have recently adopted from Vietnam. The one of the many reasons we chose to adopt from that country was that there was not alot of restrictions. I am 27 and my husband is 41. We have been married for one year, however we were only married a couple of months when we started the process. Agencies put restrictions on families not Vietnam. Our agency says you have to be married for one year but when they heard the reason for us not getting married for so long they understood it. We had to prove that we were stable. We were in the military and in the same unit and so we could not get married unitl we were out of the military. China has raised it's restrictions because they can. They have so many families that want the little girls from there that they can do that. Vietnam doesn't have hardley any at all. International adoption is hard and the countries can change thier restrictions at any time, however if you are already in the process they may just grandfather you in. China did that with a lot of their families. Vietnam is changing the way the adoption process occurs in the US but not the restrictions. If anyone is interested please email me. I have been home from Vietnam with my little girl for 3 1/2 months now. She is wonderful.
