Fluid In ears
Lisa & Teri:

My son had PE Tubes put in right before his second birthday. Early in life he never had ear infections but as soon as he turned 10 months old he got his first one and they just kept coming after that. The meds were no longer working and the fluid just sat in his ears. After a year of double ear infections, none stop fluid and trying every medication that we thought might work, they decided that surgery was the only way that this would be fixed and that he would stop having ear infections. So, we did the surgery (after me crying my eyes out because my baby had to go under the knife and I was scared to death) but everything has been great. They are healing wonderful and they have both stayed in.

You could tell right away that he was doing better. Because the fluid was no longer in his ears he was hearing more clear instead of everything being muffled and he was hearing little things that he wasn't hearing before. Some of our concerns was that because of all the ear infections the inside of the ear canal was starting to scar which could aid in some loss in his hearing. If he wasn't hearing correct them he wouldn't talk correct. And the biggest concern was that we just wanted him to no longer be in anymore pain. He has gone through enough at that point and we just needed to help him ASAP.

I cried and cried because it killed me to think of my child going into surgery . . . I did not care how "routine" it was. It was for the best though and it helped him in the long run.
