I wish I could tell you that there is a way to balance that but for the first 8 or 9 months it is completely about baby and having any kind of social life amounts to your spouse watching the baby while you take a bath or go grocery shopping but it will get better, also try to focus on getting ivolved in parenting groups or playgroups to meet other parents with small children, your social life will probably never be the exact same as it was pre-children but you can find a nice balance.
I am a work-at-home mom of a 2-year-old little girl (she just turned 2 today). I've been bowling for many years, and I belong to a bowling league on Thursday nights. It gets me out of the house at least once a week for a few hours for a little bit of extra exercise and socializing. My boyfriend is on a men's league and bowls on Mondays. If you have any kind of a hobby like that, you could see if there is a local club or group to join. You don't know how much I look forward to Thursdays! :-)
