Feeling like a bad mother
First of all let me start by saying that although I love shoes I have never been able to justify the purchase of nice shoes for myself, I always think I should be spending that money on something else. Well my son had been complaining about his shoes for a week or so (he is only 20 months old so by complaining I mean he was grabbing his shoes and saying shoes or trying to get them off) but he has never liked to wear shoes and with the recent change in weather he just started having to wear tennis shoes all the time so I did not think much of it. Well there was an artical in the paper about a local place that does old fashion foot measuring so my husband and I took him last Saturday to get his foot measured. His shoes he had on were a size 6 and his foot was a 6 1/2 and they put him in an 8, he also said that he needed arch supports and that he rolls his foot inward when he walks. Well when my husband told my MIL what size shoes he was now in she had a cow that I had not just taken him myself weeks ago. My question is how often do you take them in and why is everyone making me feel like such a crappy mom. I mean we spent 90$ on two pairs of shoes that he will probably only wear for a few months!!!!!!!!!!I will always justify spending the money on my son but I do not appreiate people making me feel like a bad mother!

i would tell my in-laws to butt out,,,, you spented the money on something your son needed,,, and so what if he's only going to wear it for a few months, i don't think there's anything you can buy a kid now days that they don't out grow, break, use up or get board with. thats what yard sales and goodwill is for. lol. i get the same thing, but from my mother. always complaining about what i spend on my kids. what she fails to see is how hard it is to find good clothes, shoes, ect,,, without paying a good price. plus the way she gripes, you'd think she foots the bills herself!

In defense of us "Mother in Laws"...she probably wasn't thinking how it would make you feel. We really do just want what's best for our grandchildren. I probably say things I shouldn't as well, but the older we get the more we stick our foot in our mouth........You are not a bad Mom and trust me I have two grown children and am raising a 3 yr old grandson and I haven't ever taken them to have that done........give yourself a break, raising children is something you learn as you go........
