My son won't take formula...Help!!!
My son is seven and a half months old and I am trying to start weaning him from breastfeeding for at least one meal a day. I LOVE nursing him but, I am back at work part time, two teeth have come in and my husband and I are anticipating getting ready to start trying for number two...it's time! The first formula we tried gave him a blotchy rash on his face and he wanted nothing to do with it. Now we are on formula number two...he HATES it! We put the bottle in his mouth, he gags, spits up and then clenches his mouth shut and looks the other way...Nightmare! We've been persistent I've had everyone try from my husband, to my sister, to my mom...I've even tried putting formula in his oatmeal and he just won't have it...HELP!!!

Wow Lori, that sure is something. Ummm let me see. Are you spoon feeding him any fruits or veggies? I ask because I started spoon feeding my baby strained potatoes (cultural thing). He seemed to prefer the potatoes to the formula so I had to cut back. Jacob will only get in on the weekends. Also, his babysitter is spoon feeding him cereal with a bit of formula in it. What kind of formula are you trying to give him now? Or maybe try giving it to him in a sippy cup?

I am feeding him fruits and veggies... maybe next time I'll try to mix some formula in with them since the oatmeal isn't cutting it. I've tried the sippy cup, he'll take juice or water in it but not formula...my high maintenance little man (LOL). Right now I am using Similac and I have also tried Enfamil. My girlfriend just recommended Good Start. Which do you use??? Thanks for responding...I'll keep you posted!!!

When my daughter started formula (5 months) (I wasn't producing enough milk:( we used the Enfamil Gentlease (light purple can) it is very gentle and she took to it well. Have you tried different bottles? We use playtex ventair the nipple is silicon and softer. I haven't tried doing it in a sippy cup but when her teething bothers her she doesn't like the bottle, I used a toddler cup and she drank most of it! A little messy but she drank it :) Good luck and keep us posted

The Goodstart is great! My little one's stomach didn't take too well the the Similac and we changed him to Good Start and he did much better.

well i used similc for my daughter and she loved it. it has a sweeter taste than most other formulas. she spit up way less than other babies because it breaks down easier than the other ones.. also it dosent smell bad or stain the clothing like the others do. i wish you luck and i hope that helps oh ya it costs around $20 for a big can

I agree that the good start is the best. It is sweeter than the others so your son might take to it better. Get the good start supreme in the orange can. That one is the best for infants
