how much formula for 7 month old?
Hi.

My 7 month old baby boy is not drinking as much milk as before which I guess is normal since we have started solids, but I'm afraid he is not getting enough. I am currently feeding him formula 5 times a day 6 oz each time and one feeding of rice cereal about 3 1/2 tablespoons and one jar of baby food a day. My baby doesn't want his milk-I have to struggle to get him to finish the 6 oz--most times he only drinks like 4 or 5oz each time. From what I've been reading at this age the minimum amount of milk should at least be 24 oz in one day. I was wondering if other moms could give me an idea of what their feedings schedules are?

my son did the same thing...did you just start feeding him solids...i know with my son it seemed this happen about a month into starting him on solids...he is 8 months old now and drinks between 4 and 5 bottles (6oz in each sometimes 8) a day...we have also introduced juices and give him some water too...you can do this to make sure that he is getting enough to drink...make sure you only giving him 4 oz of juice a day...i am not sure how much water they are allowed to have...we only give him water at night (4 to 6 oz)...i hope this helps...

I don't know if there is a right or wrong way. I know I was told by some that they should be eating 6-8 oz every 4 and a minimal of 24 oz. My son eats 4 times a day and only takes 5-6 oz each time, at bed time we do offer 8 oz...which some times he takes. My son also eats 3 times a day (cereal with fruit in the am and then two other meals during the day of veggie and fruit). I have to offer him his bottle first then sit him in his high chair because he was only wanting 2-3 oz the other way around. My son on average takes 22-24 oz in a day. I read that if they finish their bottle, offer more next time....My Dr. said that he is growing very well along the growth chart and that is the best proof that they are doing ok....Hope this helps.
