It seems like quite a few Moms are running into a same problem with little ones about SLEEP. My little one just turned 7 month, is not sleeping through the night at all. She wakes up anywhere between 2-4 hours whole night. The worst part is that she wouldn't settle to go back to sleep unless I nurse her. I think she just needs to be comforted only with my breast. She eats solids pretty good during the day and still get nursed every 3-4 hours. She has a nap twice a day for less than an hour each. We have a bed time routine that everyone suggest. It doesn't seem like teething either. Some says it might be a growth spurt but how long is it gonna last? She used to sleep though the night pretty well up until 5 month and now it's been two months that I haven't had a good sleep. I tried to stop nursing her throughout the night but most of the time she wouldn't settle for an hour or so. It it maybe that she doesn't get enough right before going to bed? It seems that babies get anpuit 8 ounces bottle at bed time, but I don't have that much coming out from my breast. I pumped once in the evening and it was only about 3-4 ounces. And yes, she wouldnlt take bottles at all. I just don't know what to do any more, I feel like I tried pretty much everying. Is it gonna get any better and from when would that be? I don't want to nurse her whole night when she's after 1 yr!!! Is this habit breakable as time goes by? Help! |

Welcome to my world. I have the exact same problem. I have been trying different methods and i have found that nursing her into a sleepy state, but not asleep, and putting her into the crib works best. I usually swaddle her arms because she tends to roll sround and wake herself up and get upset and cranky. I let her cry for three minutes by herself, then three with me, then by herself again. She usually crashes at 15 min. of this and sleeps a good 4 hours. then she wakes up because a bad diaper or she is hungry. i will cater to her needs, but i still let her cry it out a liitle and at this point in the evening she cries for a minute and falls back to sleep. yes, it is tiresome, but as the week continues i increase the amount of time for her to cry alone and they say this strategy should gt your little one asleep through the night in a week. read my nighttime blues posts. a nice lady wrote to me about this and it really helped. good luck to you! caity |

As for the bottle, you could try having someone else give her a bottle. Or maybe she will take formula from a sippy cup?Does she take a pacifer? I wouldn't nurse her to sleep that is only going to make the problem worse. |

She doesn't take pacifier. I tried to give sippy cup but she only takes it for a couple of days when I get a new one and doesn't want to take it anymore. I have many differnet sippy cups and tried since she was 5 month. |

I have run into this problem too. I gave my son some cereal before bed to help fill his belly and it seemed to work... |

try giving her water instead of nursing, sounds like she needs comfort more than food. you might want to force the pacifier because babies need to suck. |

I too nursed my daughter, however she slept in the bed with us till she was about 6 months old. So anytime she cried at night I would just nurse her and she would go right back to sleep. After that I began putting her in her bed with a bottle of formula or water which ever I felt she needed. I know you said your doesn't like bottles but how about the platex rubber of silocone nipples on the drop in bottles. They are shaped more like a real breast. Or how about skipping the second nap or making it earlier in the day? Thats all Iv'e got. I just got real lucky with this baby. Good luck! |
