not sleeping through the night anymore
When we moved back to montana my mom started driving the two hour trip and spending two days a week with my daughter to help me and my husband. She would do everything that katie needed, but katie started geting up in the middle of the night. My mom hasn't been here for two weeks becuase we figured it was messing up her schedule and katie still wakes up between 4 and 530 every morning, takes a bottle and goes back to bed. I've heard that if they start doing this at this age they will never stop (6 mo) i know she is hungry when she wakes up becuase she greedily takes the bottle and goes right back to sleep, usually 4 oz. Am i doing wrong by giving her the bottle, could she be having a growth spurt and thats why she's so hungry at night? Her daycare lady says she's a bottomless pit and eats all the time, we have been feeding her solids for about a month and she's doing very well with them. Should i feed her more solids, stop the night time bottle and just give her water? I'm so tired because i don't get to sleep all night like i used to. anyone else have this problem?

My daughter does the same thing some nights....some night she will go from 9-10pm - 4-5pm take a bottle and then sleep again others she will be up at like 2 and take a bottle and go right back to sleep. I know that she is hungry and that is why she is up.

Maybe try adding an extra once or so at her bedtime bottle and maybe add some cereal to the bottle. If she does wake up still I would give her a bottle and not water if she acts hungry like you said then that is something she must need. You might also add a little more solids at her dinner and see if that helps.

My son did that for a while. Are you feeding baby food or regular food? What helped my son was getting at least one serving of regular food at dinner. Usually pasta or something else that was mashed really well. I found that having more bulk in the meal kept him full longer. I also added more to his bedtime bottle. He now sleeps all night-Usually nine or ten hours.

How often does she get solids? Also, what size bottles does she get? At 6 months, my son was getting 6oz per bottle and we were starting to feed him three meals a day. I've heard that the more calories babies consume during the day, the more they'll sleep at night. Not real sure I believe that, but all babies are different. Have you tried a pacifier at night? My son was still getting up three times a night at 6 months and I started weaning him off that by giving him a pacifier the first and third times he woke up and still giving him a bottle at the second wakening. After a couple of nights, the first wakening went away and a couple nights later, so did the third. The second one comes and goes, but it seems like it's a lot better.

Also, if you're not breastfeeding anymore, try taking some Valerian Root before bed. It's a homeopathic, herbal supplement that helps with sleep. It's not a sleeping pill, but it'll help you get the "good" sleep when you can even if you do get up with your daughter. Since I started taken it again, it doesn't seem like I'm as tired during the day.
