My son, Gabriel, is 26 months and he is biting on everything. It can't be teething, because he is biting with his front teeth. He chews the lids and the bottoms of sippy cups, the plastic food in his play kitchen, his toothbrush, everything plastic and bitable he can find. Any ideas why? Is he bored? Is he anxious? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Kathy,
I've got a biter too, but he's just 16 months. I notice that Jake bites when he gets frustrated, but also I think he chews on things out of curiosity, as a way to explore. I've heard that the mouth is a very sensitive area and it may be he's just exploring his world.

Hi Kathy, Don't worry, he's just exploring! Babies typically do this through their third year, and boys take longer to stop than girls. Just make sure he's not chewing anything that will come apart and become a choking hazard. My 19-month old will chew anything and everything she can get her hands on, especially books! Relax, it's totally normal.
