My little boy is almost 18 months and still not walking on his own. He was born 6 1/2 weeks early so I understand he may be a little behind others in his age group. He does know how to walk but will not let go of my hand, Daddy's hand, or anything else he can get hold of. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help him? |

Maybe you could get one of the toys that he can sit on that turns into a walker. I think playskool makes one. This way he could push the toy and get used to walking on his own. |

My son just started walking and he does love his little walker with wheels on it. It folded flat when he was younger and then converted to a walker with four wheels. Your son may like the security of having something to hold onto. It would give him a little security while moving away from Mom and Dad. |

I agree with the other girls. He may like the security of holding onto something. I am studying to be an elementary teacher and in my one class, my classmate said her son was the same way. The one day he was holding the end of a wooden spoon and his ma was holding the other, they were walking around like this and she let go. Her son just kept right on walking! Just remember he will walk when he is ready :) |

Thanks to everyone who answered my post. He does have a walker and loves being in it. Runs over me and the cats constantly. My family says it won't be long before he is up and about on his own. Maybe I will try the wooden spoon...lol |
