My son is 3 months and has had exzema since he was about a week old. It isn't serious so his pediatrician told me to just use over the counter products -he only has a couple of patches of it on his head and his elbows, knees, & stomach get rough areas. I use Johnson's soothing naturals wash and cream and cortizone at times. I tried the disney baby exzema cream (has whinnie the pooh & piglet on it), but all it really did was make his skin very greasy. H as anyone else used anything that they think works really good? |

My son has it also. There is a product called Mustela that is very good. Use the line for Exzema: a lotion and body wash. Jacob's excema cleared up after using it for the first day. Or if that is too expenses (which it is) then use Dove unscented soap. For lotion use the baby Aveeno. Try to avoid using anything that smells good. |

Our son has it as well - he's 10 months old now. We also use the Johnson's lavendar baby wash because it has extra moisturizure and moisturizing baby lotion after every bath. We really like Aquaphor. You can find it at WalMart, Target, etc. in the makeup sections. It is greasy as well so we use it when we're at home, but we really can tell a big difference within 24 hours of using it. This we usually use on his knees and ankles because we can then cover the spots with soft clothing to keep it from rubbing off on us, the carpet.... But his knees and ankles are the only spots left right now that we notice. My friend uses Cera Ve lotion and cream as suggested by her son's dermatologist. It is also an over the counter lotion. I haven't used it yet because the Aquaphor - although greasy- is working for us. She said she got it at Walgreens but I think I saw it in other stores as well. Good Luck! Jenni |

My daughter has had eczema sporadically. Our ped recommended Aveeno products( told to stay away from Johnson's products) and to use hydrocortisone cream on any inflamed red patches.( I used the Aveeno on this as well) It worked! Have you tried the Gentle Naturals baby eczema wash? I put this in her bath and it appeared to help clear it up as well. For patches are that in chafing/rub areas, the ped recommended Cetaphil lotion with Aquaphor on top of that. It moistirizes and then places a protective barrier on top to protect from diapers, clothing, etc/ |

Hi
My 4 month old daughter also had an ongoing exzema problem. A friend gave me Baby's Bliss Baby Derma Cream...which worked wonders! You can find it at http://www.blissbymom.com/Products/Detail.aspx?product=baby-derma-cream Buy it online or use their Store Locator to find a store in your neighborhood that carries it.
Good luck, Pat |

Kim, just out of curiosity - did your pediatrician explain why to stay away from Johnsons products? Ours just told us to try the 1% hydrocortizone on bad patches and one of his nurses told us to try Aquaphor. I'm just wondering if there's an ingrediant or something in the Johnsons stuff that can irritate it worse? |

Our pediatrician also had told us to stay away from johnsons products just because of the perfumes in it. My daughter has eczema and we used aveno lotions, and dove bar soap (unscented), I had also been recommended to use cetaphil. However that is very expensive. I ended up using an item called gentle naturals eczema cream and body wash. The only place I was able to find it at besides online was at walgreens. It works very well and it is pleasant smelling. No added scent just the smell of the actual cream. My daughter had broken out real bad and I used that and it worked great. She now has been relying mostly on dove soap, and aveeno moisturizers now that it is under control. I have also started to introduce other lotions that are unscented for babies. Good luck. |

Anything with perfumes or dyes can make eczema worse. Aquaphor and Aveeno are the two that my doctor recommended. The fewer ingredients the better. Bathe in cool or room temperature water- warmer water dries skin out. Bathe less often, just every two or three days- you can use a washcloth on diaper area inbetween baths. |

Our ped just said Johnsons had a lot of perfumes. As for the Gentle Naturals - Target also carries them. Good Luck! |

Hi Ladies, My son had it as well and it has all been cleared up. I work for a company that carries a wonderful baby line of products that are Peditrician tested, Dermatologist tested, Hypoallergenic, Certified Vegan, Formulated without dyes or fragrances etc. They are wonderful for babies with sensitive skin. I'd be happy to send you samples if you contact me. We have a company policy that I can not advertise on message boards, so I can't give you my webpage here. I can email it to you separately. If you would like more info or samples, please contact me at cmcdonald47@tampabay.rr.com. It is a wonderful company with wonderful products. It is all I use on my son. It soaks in really well and is botanical. It doesn't leave him feeling greasy at all. For those using the Johnsons lavendar products, just read the fine print on the back of the bottle. I used to have some and they had a warning about breathing problems etc. I don't have them anymore, but one that had lavendar for calming, didn't even have lavendar in the ingredients, it was all chemical fragrances. I don't remember the specific one, I think it was Johnsons, but read those labels carefully. I'd be happy to share more info on a safe baby line, just email me. Charlene |
