Hey all My name is Crystal and I am a mother of a 2 year old daughter. She is my world. I don't think that I could even imagine myself without her. Anyway, I do have a quick question for everyone. Does anyone have a child who is affraid of the dark? If so do you have any suggestions on how to handle it? We have been having to leave her bedroom light on at night so that she can fall asleep. We have stopped most things that you would think might be scary to a 2 year old but with Halloween coming up its hard to sensor everything because no matter where you go you have stuff up that is a little scary. I am hoping that when the Halloween stuff like decorations and tv shows are done then maybe it will kind of go away but you just never know. I just was wondering if anyone else was experienceing all of this and if you had any other suggestions. Thank you Crystal |

Hi Crystal, Welcome to the group. My daughter is also afraid of the dark, she is 14 months. I leave the closet light on for her at night. It is not too bright, but enough so she is not scared. |

Hi Crystal, welcome to the group! My godson went in and out of this phase between the ages of 2 and early 3's. He specifically said that there were monsters in his room and that's why he was scared. Besides a night light, we made a monster spray (water in a spray bottle) and before he would go to bed we would spray where ever the monsters liked to hide (closet, under the bed...) We also put all his buzz light years around the door to keep the monster from into his room. This worked very well for us. Maybe you could ask her what it is she doesn't like about the dark? Good luck and let us know how it goes. |
