I've been really lucky up to this point because Hannah, who is almost 4 months now, has been a very good baby. She has a relatively happy disposition, she eats well, she sleeps well and the only time she's really fussy is from 4 or 5pm to 8:30ish during the end of the day stuff. But as of this week she's been screaming her head off for hours at a time and there's NOTHING I can do to calm her down. She's been waking up every hour again, just like when she was first born, but doesn't really want to eat and won't go back to sleep. Then she'll stay awake from 3 am to 6:15 or so and whenshe finally does crash out that's when I have to get and get up and get ready for work. There doesn't seem to be anything really wrong with her, she has a clean diaper, she's fed, nothing's on her skin...the only thing i can think is that she may have started teething but I don't know. I havent slept in 4 days for more than 30 min a day and I'm working 2 jobs and my husband is little to no help. I feel like i'm going out of my mind and I know that's not fair to her b/c it's really not her fault but i just don't know how to calm her down. Anyone have any ideas or advice? |

It could be teething. Has she started solid foods? She could have gas and be uncomfortable. If it has been a couple of days you may want to call your ped just to be sure. |

It sounds like teething. My baby started at 2 months right after he stopped his "colic cry". He's been ok for about 4 days, but I have a feeling that he might get all fussy again this weekend! Try to give her a teething ring when she starts hollering or your knuckle to suck on. If that calms her then you'll know she's teething. Hope this helps! Good Luck! |

Is she drooling like crazy and trying to chew on things? If you do think that she may be teething, try letting her chew on a cold, wet washcloth. My son was teething at 4 months and pulling on his ear all the time... No ear infection and Pedi said he doubts he's teething... but, he was. He was also really fussy around that time because he was starting to do so many new things and was frustrated and wanted to 'practice' all the time but got himself completely over tired. How is she during the day? I can't imagine having to go to work after nights like that! It's easy to feel like you're going out of your mind when you are exhausted, and especially when you don't know how to help your baby... don't blame yourself! |

Talk to your Pedi. She may not be teething and it could be an ear ache or gas or something like that. My son used to scream whenever he tried to pass gas because of the discomfort. He would get up every hour or two during the night when this happened. If nothing you can do is calming her down, then there is something obviously wrong. She could also have acid reflux. My son would cry for two hours straight when this happened. The doctor told us to give him some Mylanta and this did work, but definitely check with your doctor. If something is wrong, you will want to find out sooner rather than later.
If she is teething, try giving her some Hyland's Teething Tablets. They were recommended to me by a couple of mothers on this site and I absolutely adore them. |

could possibly be sour stomach. But there are any number of things that could be bothering your baby, one being that you are sooo stressed, and she is picking up on that. I was in your position once, i know what your going through. Just take it one day at a time, talk to someone, anyone.. if you have family go to them, if not a friend, if not there then definetly your dr. If all else fails look online for a support group for mothers in your area, thats what i eneded up doing and i started feeling much better after a couple days. I hope this helps! |

Hi Melissa,
It sounds like your baby has colic. The most wonderful natural way to give her (and you) relief is Baby's Bliss Gripe Water. You can find this product at www.blissbymom.com - it can be ordered online, or you can use their store locator to find a store in your neighborhood that carries it!
Good luck,
