Kelly Lee - Introduction
Hi!

I'm a veteran member of raisingthem.com, and moderate a secular group for Parents of Teens here. I'm glad to see one created for the Christian crowd as sometimes differing worldviews account for some widely differing opinions on our group. It's good for Christians to have a place to go where their core beliefs are strengthened, not questioned. My husband is saved, but still heavily influenced by his secular upbringing when it comes to the kids.

I have three kiddos: Josh is 21, in the National Guard, & he and his wife are having my first grandchild (a boy) near the end of October! He will be leaving after the first of the year for additional training and a tour in Iraq. Daniel is 16, loves professional wrestling, Univ. of Okla. football, and all kinds of pets. He's just started parent-taught driver's ed, and we'll be going to get his learner's permit soon - pray for me! Rachel is 11, but girls mature so early these days that I consider her mostly teenager. She is very girly-girl and into the Disney tweenage/teenage scene. She loves to sing and teaches our pets or her stuffed animals after school everyday.

I homeschool the younger two. The eldest, Josh, was raised by his father and step-mother (who did a fine job).

My hubby works at a psychiatric hospital in Tulsa as a maintenance person. He did work as a psych tech, but his experience and talents lie in remodeling and maintenance.

I have an emotional disability that I work very hard (along with my family and dr's) to keep under control. Was it Paul who prayed continually for God to relieve him of an affliction, only to have the afflication remain? I know how that feels having had this problem since I was a teenager and being Christian through it all. I'm so grateful, though, that God has given us people who can research drugs and techniques that alleviate some of the symptoms - just further proof that God is, indeed, good!

I'm so excited to see this group begin that I'm going straight to the two groups I moderate to advertise!

Wow. You must be a very, very fast typist - your response was so quick.

I'm so excited that you are going to advertise to the two groups you moderate.

Today is my first day on this site. I was hoping to find a Christian support group for families with teenagers. When I didn't find one, I decided to create one. I would be happy to just be a friend of the site if you feel you would like to moderate it. I am in the process of looking for a job now and that is why I have the time to spend on the computer. My husband is at work and my two youngest children are in school so I am able to use the computer uninterrupted. This is definitely going to change once I get a new job. Please let me know how you would feel about moderating this group.

Thank you so much.

How about I help? Mainly what I do to moderate my other groups is to read every post, and respond if I have something to say. I also send a personal message to each new member and welcome them on the group message board. On Parents of Teens, one member has volunteered to give daily topics, which is great. On Homeschooling Parents I post a Topic of the Week to help stimulate discussion.

Once you get a few members, they really take over and do quite a bit of self-moderating. I've only had to remove one member who was "cyber-stalking" another member and really had no reason to be in the group. She never posted though. So I can say that despite the differences in worldview represented on those groups, I have never had to remove a post, do damage control, or remind others to be encouragers. The members have been great at supporting one another and being respectful.

This is a great place to be a newbie moderator!
