hello everyone! my name is jeanny, and i'm a first-time expecting mom -- not due til jan, but i do not know ANY moms in my area at all, so i thought i'd better get a head start trying to find mom/baby groups to connect with!
i moved down from the bay area about 5 years ago, but being busy with with work, i just haven't really made a lot of new friends, and the handful of friends i have down here (either new or old) do not have kids or are too spaced out to hang out with regularly (out in LA or down in SD)...
i would love to have moms to interact with once my baby comes, and i definitely appreciate the need for "mom time" too! plus, it would be great to have a forum to ask all those "first-time mom" questions -- as it is, i am already starting to look at childcare options cuz i will have to return to work full-time after my disability ends, so if anyone has any suggestions on in-home care or daycare centers they recommend, or any other advice, i'd appreciate it!

Hi Jeanny,
Congrats! Ok, first of all my advice to you is to get the epidural, I had my first 14 years ago naturally and it hurt bad, second time (recently) I got the epidural (life saver!) I would recommend it to anyone. :o) True it hurts like H**l because they are sticking a large (and I mean large) needle in your spine (ouch!) but 1/2 hour later you are great! I was so relaxed I got the baby out in 7 pushes, first baby the time took me an hour and who knows how many pushes??? all I know is that I passed out from pushing so much/so hard. This time I didn't feel a thing, it also doesn't (or so they say) hurt the baby. :o) Good luck to you and welcome to the group. ps, check out the new playgroup we started, when you have the baby you are welcome. :o) Brigette |

hello and thanks for the welcomes! pamela, i live in corona and work in moreno valley...and brigette, i agree -- i already told my husband, make sure they get me an epidural before it's too late to get one! (he's the loud one, and i'm the quiet one, so i know he'll make sure i get what i need at the hospital)... |

Definetly get the epidural. I know how much better after I felt when I got mine done. Transcissiong from 3 to 7 cm in 2 minutes was the worst pain in my entire life and the whole birthing process. |

Worst pain in my life too. That is why nature makes us forget after a few years. I couldn't remember the exact pain until I was in it again. OUCH!!!! Sorry you have to endure it, however the joy you get in the end is so worth it all... Kisses and best wishes, Brigette |
