Hi there. My husband and I just came home 2 months ago from Vietnam. We adopted a baby girl named Jessica. She is 6 months old and only 10 pounds. It has been very hard because of the unknown of anything about her. We presume that she is a preemie. She is getting some help and overall is a very good girl, always happy. She is our only daughter and I don't know how anyone can adopt more than one. I would love to but the finacial aspect of it, WOW!! How does anyone afford more than one. Melissa |

congratulations!!!!
we afford more than one by going through the foster system! and don't forget that you'll get a HUGE chunk of change back on your taxes. check with your work, too, some companies reimburse adoption expenses.
your daughter may or may not have been a preemie. my son, at 2, was only 22 pounds because he has failure to thrive. if she eats well, i bet she'll grow like a week. if she does not eat well, seek intervention right away! |

You asked how people can afford more than one child, a lot of people can't! They make do somehow. My oldest son was in our foster care at 20 mo's and his adoption went through at age 3. He is eligible for medicaid b/c he was adopted, which is helpful, but of course he's never sick! My preemie was born at 30 weeks and has cost so much, but of course I wouldn't give him back!! They are both wonderful boys and no we can't truly afford them, but they are fed and clothed which are requirements!! Good luck and take care, Tasha |
