Why sign languages?

What benefits do you see in your child communication skill by using sign languages? Vero

I just started to sign with my 6 month old premature twins as I feel since most premature babies take about 2 years to catch up, this will give me some ways to communicate with them. That way if they don't talk when a full term baby would have, they can communicate with me and visa versa.
