Crying the minute mom is away
I am a SAHM to my wonderful daughter she is 18 months. Lately she will cry and bang on the bathroom door when I take a shower in the evening when Dad comes home. This has never been a problem before, I have left her home with daddy to get a haircut on a Saturday and she is fine, now I'm scared I can never leave the house again or will she cry the whole time? She is in Love with her daddy and runs for him when he gets home from work, but If I try to get away for a bit, she cries. Is this just a stage she is going through? I have been taking her to playgroups and to the library for storytime, to interact with others. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks Laura, yes I have read about seperation anxiety, the things we go through, but it's so worth it, I couldn't ask for a better job, then a SAHM. LOL.

Hi,
My ped told me that kids go through separation anxiety at about 6 months and 18 months. It should pass.

My daughter is 17 1/2 months and is starting to go through separation anxiety again also. I've read that it is just something they go through. It's tough because you need a break, but you don't want to put anyone through the crying (your husband or your daughter). Good luck.

My son in 13 1/2 month olds and he also cry's when mommy leaves him with daddy, at daycare or if I just step out of the room for a minute. His new thing is banging his head on everything when he is upset. I swear he has a permanent bruise from banging his head. Our pediatrician did say it's a phase and it will pass eventually. So good luck and hang in there.
