Can anyone help me with this. My son is 5 months and has been breastfed. I have lots of milk frozen and want to use the bottle sometimes, ex: my husbant, baby siter but he will not take the bottle, any kind. He throws a tantrum, just absolutely refuses to take them, I even bought a special bottle on line it's a lot like a human breast but he will not take it eather. Any advise on how to teach him to take a bottle?

Hi Esther, my little one is 6 months and very rarely takes the bottle. But when she does it takes a lot of patience and somethimes having someone else giving it to her. Use this time for yourself and take a long shower or a walk, because if they know your around then they'll want to nurse. There a lot smarter then we think! Just keep trying he'll get the hang of it. I hope I helped! |

DOn't mean to be the bearer of possible bad news, but my daughter is 10 months old and has never taken a bottle. I feel like we tried every nipple and bottle out there. At this stage she takes the Nuby cups. My ped recommended it. I think they may sell bottles, too.Maybe someone else will have some great advice. Good Luck! |

Esther, Have you ever given your baby a bottle? If not, guess what, he will not ever take a bottle. The bottle must be introduced to your baby between the 2nd and 3rd weeks of life. If you wait until after this time your chances go down. You will have to feed him by a sippy cup. |

They tell you to introduce the bottle within the first two months, I did around two months and my daughter took the bottle and still breastfeed until five months. Try the Dr.Browns bottles the have a soft nipple and they work very well. Good luck and keep trying, a sippy cup is also good to introduce early I started at 6 months and my daughter has always taken the sippy cup. Just put water to start with. |

Yes, I did give him the bottle in the first month (a lot) we had feeding problems but ones breastfeeding was established well, we stoped the bottle. I guess I could say it's been 3 months with no bottle. Do I have any chances of ever using a bottle? |

Esther, Once you start the bottle then discontinue, usually the baby will not go back to the bottle. You can try all the bottles in the world and the baby will still refuse the bottle. |
