Car Seat Replacement
Hey Everyone,

This past Friday, Logan and I were in a car accident. Someone in an SUV blew a stop sign and t-boned my Jetta on the driver's side. We're both ok, thankfully, with only minor problems from the crash....bumps and bruises...mostly coughs/sore throats from the air bag dust. It was pretty scary, but I'm just glad Logan is ok. My car didn't fare as well, with $6000 in damages, but I'd rather the car take the blow than either of us.

It was a mild crash - the SUV wasn't going more than 35 mph, and the carseat was positioned in the center of the backseat, and doesn't appear to have any wear and tear...however, my friend who is a car seat technician said that it has to be replaced because the plastic now has wear, and may not function properly in the event of another accident. She said that insurance should cover this expense, but I'm just wondering how we go about doing it. Has anyone been through this or know where I should start??

Any info would be great!

Thanks!

Mandy

Hi Mandy,
I am glad you both are OK. I have never had an accident with my daughter in the car. But I would get a new car seat and have the insurance reimburse you. Once you have the police report and the insurance has a copy you should be able to claim it as damaged. Since it seems that the other driver is at fault their ins. should be covering the costs, this includes your car and anything in it. If it were me I would not use the old car seat at all, just in case.

i wanted to reply to you because yesterday i was on the car safety website and it stated that if you are in any kind of accident minor and major you should replace it...also i am glad you are okay and you should report to ur insurance company and they will pay for a new one.
