Time zones and airports
Hello, everyone!

I know I posted this in another group, but thought since this group was smaller I might get a little more feedback....

We are going on vacation this weekend and will be changing time zones; central to Pacific. Does anyone have any tips on how to help make the transition of time changes more smooth for our 9 1/2 month old son?

We are flying with one stop just long enough to change planes. Are there any tricks that would make traveling with a baby better? Security checks, toys, ears, etc.? How much food, formula, diapers are necessary? Was there anything you took as cary-on you didn't need? Was there anything you wished you had with you that you checked or left behind? He will have his own seat with his carseat during the flights and our seats appear to be toward the middle to back of the plane.

We appreciate any advice, tips, helpful hints!

I don't have a baby 2006 but I have few ideas about traveling with kids.
I was buying the box with individually packed formula. Two or three favorite toys. A portable DVD with Baby Einstein. Some baby snack that usual sooth them.
Bring also a Babybjorn sometimes they do not want to sit the all time.

have fun!

We have not done the time zone switch yet. Not looking forward to that. As for the ears, I kept a pacifier in Alyssa's mouth while taking off and landing. If you do not use a pacifier, then definitley nurse or give a botttle. This worked ofr us! Good luck!

Hi Jenni,
We went to Italy in August for two weeks and everything went perfect! I was so nervous about flying with her ears but I fed her a bottle going up and one coming down and she was great!

They are six hours ahead with time so the first few days was alittle bit off. We were going to bed at 4 to 5 in the morning. Which was 9 to 10 at night for home. She would wake up around 1 in the afternoon which was 6 in the morning back home. It was crazy. Then I decided that I was going to wake her up 2 hours earlier then she normally gets up in the morning. Then upped it to 3 hours she was still tired and would try to fall back to sleep but I kept her up for at least an hour then she took a nap and got on to a better time change. That was the only way she was going to do it. It worked!! Diapers? I brought just enough for 3 days then the rest I bought over there the same with food. Except her formula! I brought the one she always drinks.
As for the plane, The airport was great they are very laidback if you have a baby. Normally you can't bring any bottles of water onboard but for a baby you can. if you use glass containers I got through ok. not a problem at all. Bring your stroller! I brought my big one not a problem. They take it for you when you board then when you get off it is right there for you. (plus you can store stuff on it)

Any other questions just ask
Have a great time!!!!!

Tammy,
Did you buy a ticket for your baby. If you did, did you have to have proof of ID? My husband thinks we need to take his birth certificate since we have a ticket for him and I haven't found anything out about that yet.

No I didn't buy a ticket we accually got her a bassenett. On over sea flights you can request it. But we needed to get her a passport! So I would check with your airline because I am sure your going to need something whether it is a birthcert or something. Just to be on the safe side!!
