Thank you - my son is 3 1.2 and is language delayed. He attends preschool with kids who are not. This is suppose to help, the class has a speech pathologist who comes in and teaches the entire class for 90 mins a week. I joined this group for input and support. I noticed we are the only two members - how long have you had the group created? I noticed you have twins are one or both or neither speeched delayed. I lived in Brooklyn and graduated from Lincoln HS. Then went to Hunter College in the city what a small world. - -- My greatest concern is my little girl Caitlyn 2 is starting to imitate my son's speech. bye for now ---Patricia

Hi Patricia,

sorry it took me so long to respond.
I have twins and they were both late with language.
However, one became really fluid and wants to talk all the time. The other is trying to get by with the minimum amount of words which means that he does not practice and enrich his vocabulary.

We work with him in making him say long sentence but you could see that it is not natural to him!

It is a small world...however Brooklyn is not that small...did you forget how densely populated it is! You know how long it takes to find parking!

I am trying to get more interest in this group.

I wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone! I have a son that will be turning 3 in January and he has a speech delay. He is getting better, but not where he should be at this time. He will start a special preschool for it in Feb. Is anyone else's child in therapy for speech? My son is. Well hope to talk to you soon!

Mine are not, probably they should have been but I am from old school I think sometimes they need only time. This old Spanish doctor in the 60's told my friend's mother when she was concern about her child speech delay: "are there any mute in your family?" Well so don't worry she will talk and sure enough is one of the person I know that talk the most and in different languages!
Sorry I am sharing this story but sometimes is good to take a step back and have a little laugh.
