laura I'm new here but I just had to help you. I have a disorder called hyperimasis when I am pregnant. Sorry if I didn't spell it right. It just means that when I am pregnant I throw up a lot. How much is a lot? Atlest 20 times a day and that is when I didn't eat. I was in the hospital with my last one atlest 5 times for fluids and lost 35 pounds with my first and 30 with my second in the first trimester. My first was worse becaue I thought I was dying and my doctor in less words just told me to get over it. Luckly my second was smarter and realized what I had. Don't worry about not being able to take care of you 2 1/2 year old, my first was 14 months when I got pregnant and I was baby sitting a little girl that was the same age. They keep your mind off of it and when they see that your not feeling well they turn into little angels and help out. Now back to how to get trought it. Mint is the key. I don't know how it works but it does. I alway had lots of gum and mint tea around but you don't want your tea to be hot and no sugar. This will just make matters worse. Also if you have any cravings (that are normal or as normal as a pregnant woman can get) go for it. If your craving it, you need it. And I notice that if I was craving it. it didn't come back up or make things worse. Mine was McD's fish sandwiches. I wouldn't eat them normally. And one more thing that helped. Alway try to keep something in your stomach and eat in little amounts. All this helped but I still had it so bad that I needed meds but if your not actually throwing up then there is no need. My meds cost over $30 a pill and I took sometimes 4 a day. I hope this is usefull for you and just remember that your a strong woman (you gave birth did you?) and you will get through it. I don't know if your wondering but most people ask how healthy were my babies. Well my son (the first) was 9 pounds 13 oz and my girl was 8 pounds 9 oz. Your body knows what it's doing (well most of the time), just trust it and your doctor. As long as he's a good one that is. LOL |

I never threw up but was always almost about to all day for a while. I chewed gum or sucked on hard candy. it gives you a good taste in your mouth and helped me alot. Just eat small meals all the time. I had a few weeks were i couldnt eat anything because as soon as i put food in my mouth i started gagging. I drank ensure or something like that. i think they have special ones for pregnant woman to. it got nutrients in me when i couldnt even swallow food. you will get through it. your mom come on your a super hero. hehe |

My only suggestion is to try warm coke. I only had an upset stomach when someone cooked meat! I couldn't stand the smell of any cooking meat, popcorn, or peanut butter! When my stomach would bother me and I would sip a warm coke and my stomach would settle down.
Good luck....my son is that age and I can only imagine being pregnant |

I too am suffering from a debilitating condition called Hypermeses Gravitarum. It's a severe form of morning sickness where you basically vomit daily and can barely hold down any food or fluids. I was put on IV fluids 24 hours a day for a whole week. Nurses would come to my home and put IV's in my veing and hook me up to a pump. I feel so awful I can barely function on a daily basis. I have a 6 year old and 3 year old and am due in September with baby number 3. I am sixteen week pregnant and this darn condition will not cease!! I can't catch a break, every day I feel absolutely weak, tired, and just overall crudy. It's hard to be happy about this pregnancy when I feel so miserable! Eva Gordon |
