Pet Peeve: Hollywood's Obsession With Weight
Does it drive anyone besides me crazy the way Hollywood obsesses with womens weight. A prime example is the VMA's this past Sunday Britney Spears' preformance was down right terrible, but honestly I didn't think she looked all that bad considering she's had two kids. Yet she was ridiculed over and over for not being as in shape as she was. This is only the begining. Celebs losing weight in the public eye.. why does everyone have to be uber skinny? I'll be honest, I'm chunkier than I used to be.. I'm not obess or anything there's nothing wrong with having a little weight, I look okay the way I am. Am I completely happy with my body? Of course not. Would I like to lose 20 pounds to get back into my 'skinny' jeans? Of course! However, I have not made this a top priority in my life. I do what I can and that's all I can do. What gets me is the message that hollywood is sending to our kids especially young girls who might be a bit over weight... The key to being happy with your body is starting out with it as a kid...

I'm tired of it, too, mainly because my well-proportioned and very healthy daughter (11yo) keeps talkng about dieting and losing weight!

We keep encouraging her to be healthy instead of worrying about her weight.

Brooke you bring up a very valid point. The media portreays women being beautiful only if the are very skinny. It is very grotesque at times to see some of these women on television who are so skinny you can see all of their bones. I believe that it is societies fault that we have so many children mostly female who engage in eating disorders for fear that they might not fit in well enough with societies frame of what beautiful is. I too am happy with what I have, but I would love to lose another 10 pounds and it just isn't coming off fast enough. As winter rolls around I wonder what I am going to do to keep the weight off. I hope that we will all do great this up and coming winter.
