When did your child have there 1st haircut? My son is 8 months old and his hair is getting so long, but I think he is too young to have a haircut? |

Christy,
My son just had his first haircut at 14 months. He's 15 months now. It wasn't a full haircut, just the long curls on the sides and in the back.
As long as your 8 month old can hold his head still go for it otherwise wait. Don't stress over it. You know your child best. If other people don't understand thats there problem. |

Our son was 6 months when he got his first haircut. It was SO LONG. He was born with a full head of hair and never lost it. We decided it needed cut because looking from his picture to my baby pictures he looked like a girl! And the stylist kept calling him "her" and "she" even after we corrected her several times and she'd say, "Oh, I can see why you're getting his hair cut!" (we didn't tip her much). Before his 9 month mark, he had 1 full haircut and 2 trims. He always does great. Either my husband or I hold him on our laps when he gets it cut instead of sitting in the boosters which helps. The only part he hates is when they hold the top of his head to avoid poking him. Otherwise, he loves looking in the mirror and at the other customers! You just do what is right for you! And be sure to save as much hair as you can for his baby book! |

Hi christy, my son is seven months old and my husband and i have decided to wait till he's a year old to cut his hair (traditional perposes). Most people dont cut their childrens hair till their first birthday!! |

Hi Christy. If you think he needs a haircut take him to a salon and ask if they would be willing to do it. When my son was six months he had curly wings sticking out on both sides of his head. I cut them myself, you'd never even notice. Don't doubt your instincts or worry what anyone says, you are the mommy :] Good luck |

Christy, My sons hair got real long on the sides and I hated how it looked in all his pictures. I cut the sides myself when he was only 3 or 4 months old. Then once he was bigger I took him to get it done at a salon, he sat on my lap. He will be 1 this month and he's had his hair cut 3 times!!! So if it needs to be cut and its bothering you, just take him they do a much better job than mommy or daddy would. LOL |
