Rash
Hi, everyone! I was just changing my daughters diaper, when I noticed a strange red rash above her diaper. I'm still experimenting with solids with her, so I'm thinking it might be a food allergy. I also noticed it right above and below her left nipple. I was thinking the one above her diaper, might be caused from the diaper irritating her skin, but now i'm not sure. To be on the safe side, I'm not going to give her any more sweet potatoes, the food we were on. I'm wondering though if I should call her doctor and take her in to get looked at, or just wait a day, and see if it gets any worse. I really don't know what to do. Help! Thank you!

Hi Shawna,
I would call the dr and ask about going in. It sounds like an allergy since it is in different places. You might want to ask if you can give some benadryl.

I agree to call and ask what you should do. If it doesn't seem to be bothering her they will probably tell you just to discontinue the food you think may have caused it and see if it goes away. It also depends what the rash looks like. If it's just red bumps, probably nothing. But if it's bubbles that have liquid inside and appears to be making her uncomfortable, that could be something they would want to take a look at. It's better to be cautious and call.

Sorry, guys. False alarm! I just took another look, and it's gone! She hasn't the fairest skin, and anything and everything shows up on it. Looks like it might've just been the diaper irritating her afterall. lol Thanks for the input though. I was worried. :-)

I am glad it was a false alarm. Thanks for letting us know. :-)

My son is the same way- very sensitive skin, so it can be hard to know what is serious and what isn't. He often gets little marks and irritations that go away pretty quickly.

I had almost the same thing happen to my son when he was about 7 months. i got alarmed, and when i checked later it was gone. Dr. said the same thing as others here, keep looking and make sure it's nothing serious, but otherwise it's probably not a big deal. Just be vigilant.
