Thanks Kelly for the warm welcome. I am new to the group and just thought I would drop in and say hello to everyone. I am homeschooling my 5 year old daughter that would technically be starting Kindergarten this year do to a late b-day. My daughter is a visual spatial learner and also has ADD. She has made remarkable progress since I have been homeschooling her which has been for 5months. She went from not being able to identify her letters to now reading simple sentences. Currently we use both Hooked on Phonics and Eye Q Phonics in tandem just to make things more interesting. She is currently half way through Kindergarten curriculum but I have decided to start her on Singapore Math and most likely robinson's curriculum. I look forward to meeting fellow homeschoolers.
Thanks, Crystal |

Thanks for the welcome. I am exploring homeschooling. My son is only 10.5 weeks old but I want be prepared. If we still live in this area when he becomes school age I will have to either send him to private school or home school him. I have a M.Ed. in Special Education. In order to take the addtional years off from work to teach my son I would likely have to begin a home based business. I think I am perfectly suited to assist other parents in homeschooling their children or "homeschooling" children of parents who want to return to work but don't want to send their child back to the schools. |

Crystal ~ Isn't the learning capacity of our kids amazing! They never cease to amaze me!
Amanda ~ you certainly could be an asset on this site. At this time we don't have very many families with special needs children but your general education knowledge will be very welcome and it's good to know you're here if a special need comes up. |
