I understand allergies very well. I'm allergic to dogs; we have one. My hubby is allergic to cats and we have four. I can't live without pets, though, so I suffer the allergy symptoms quietly, and enjoy my furry babies to the fullest extent I can.
If you ever decide you MUST have a pet, check out the reptiles. Some of them are very fun. There are also kits you can purchase at educational stores that allow you grow your own frogs. I want to do that just because I like frogs! But my kids would think that was cool, too.
If you never decide you MUST have a pet, you can always expose your children to others pets and let them learn a little about pet care that way. |

My husband is severly allergic to dogs and my daughter is allergic to cats. My daughter's husband is also allergic to cats. We have a grandson who is 14 months and having reptiles or frogs is out. We had a parrot but the noise was annoying. So I will probably go back to fish. My mother -in-law has dogs so the kids can play with them. My youngest actually wants to be a vet. oh well! |

Fish are cool - very soothing to watch. My son's dad and step-mom had salt-water fish for a very long time and she would talk about their different personalities just as if they were a dog or cat!
But I'll never forget the cartoon I saw where there were two men standing in front of an aquarium and one of them is saying, "Hey! My $15 fish just ate my $75 fish!" (Wild kingdom in the living room).
Anyone allergic to rabbits? We just got out first bunny and they are really fun - and SO SOFT! |
