Hi Ladies, I planned to go back to work 3 months after having my daughter but luckily I've been able to stay home with her for the last 71/2 months. In that time I've tried to introduce her to other mommies and babies but you all know how hard that can be. Well I'm ready to ease back into work part time but I can't even imagine putting my daughter in daycare. She's all mommy and daddy, she doesn't even let her grandparents hold her! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help her be more comfortable with other people. What would be a good way to get her to stay with a sitter? I feel like the longer I wait the harder it's going to be. Thanks for your help jennie |

It is best to take your time and make sure you are comfortable with the childcare arrangements you make. The link below is for an article with tips for helping ease the transition.

I would suggest finding a daycare you are VERY comfortable with. Being with other people other than mom and dad is something she's going to need to learn. It's hard, I know. If you don't get her used to other people now kindergarten is going to be very traumatizing for her. Start with half days at day care, and pop in half way through the morning or afternoon to let her know you haven't abandoned her. Then the 2nd week, go with full days and pop in during the morning and afternoon. Week 3 just go at lunch time and by week 4 she will be ok being at day care all day. Trusting our babies to a total stranger is hard, but as long as you feel comfortable and your baby feels comfortable it will make things much easier in the long run. Let me know if you have any more questions.
