My husband and I just bought our 9 month old son a new lifetime crib. The crib he was in before had teething rails but this one does not. He has been chewing on the front of the crib. He isn't actually eating it but he is putting his teeth marks in it. I have tried to teach him not to chew on it but my method hasn't worked. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can stop him from chewing on the crib? Please help! |

Hi, I ordered something to go on the rails called "gummi rail gaurds", and also cloth covers to go over the rails as well. Emilie has been biting and scraping the rails so I am worried this will make her sick. I too have not been able to get her to stop. As soon as I receive them (US Mail) I will add to your post and let you know how they are. |

They chew on the rails because they are teething and the railing is firm but soft on the gums. Try giving them a small wooden spoon. ( The ones grandma used for making stews are great!) My son chewed on his for months. He actually liked the handle side better. (My mom just found some wooden spoons that have flat wide handles. My daughter loves 'em.) I also give them a little tylonal to help ease the pain of teething and them give them the spoons. You could also try putting something on the rail that does not taste good. |

We got these Gummi Guard Rails at babies R Us when our son was doing this. They adhere to the crib rails and can be removed in the future by warming them with a hairdryer. These have worked wonderfully! |

Our son started doing this too a while back. We got guard rails at Babies R Us that just hook on. They are easy for him to get off and play with now, that's the only downside...but he knows they are to be on there and he even tries to put them back on after he takes them off! Well, they worked for the time he was biting and now he's past it. Good luck! |
