Best sippy cup?
My daughter is 6.5 mths old and she really wants to drink out of non spill proof cup, like mama does, but of course it spills everywhere. I have a sippy cup from avent but i don't like it because it smashes her nose when she drinks out of it and the flow seems to be to fast. Any recommendations for her age?

I've been using Nuby and love them. They have a wide variety. My daughter likes the soft silicone spout. She uses the sport sipper and the one with a straw. Hope this helps.
She didn't take to the Avent sippy cup either. I think my daughter just doesn't like the hard spout, maybe because of teething.

here is a link in case you want to check it out.....

my daughter started with paytex sippy cups the ones that are made of teh soft plastic, It has a sturdey yet soft rubbery spout, we didn't move to nuby until she was about 9-10 m onts old as she has to bite and suck down to get her drink out. She has just realized about a month ago how to drink out of a straw. I would say that it really depends on your little one. Which one she feels comfortable with. I bought both of mine at walmart.

I had to cut into the spout a bit to make the flow a bit fast for my daughter. Nuby is available at Target and babies r us. The thing I also like about the Nuby is that they come with a lid. So when are out, I don't have to worry about the spout getting dirty.

I agree, both Playtex & Gerber have similar ones out. . . I like Playtex in that there is a plastic insert you can take out and clean and then take-out once they get the sipping action down when they're older (so you don't have to buy a new sippy cup). We've been using those two w/ Sonora since she was 5 months. . . I just have to help her not to guzzle the water down so she doesn't choke-- I think she doesn't get that it doesn't work like a boob ! lol

Rochelle your funny. My daughter seems to think that she is a camel some times, and she can go to town on some water.

I started my son on the Dr. Brown Sippy cups when he was 5 months old and he loves them. They are however a bit more pricey at $6.00 a pop but they are really worth every penny. I also agree with the Nuby sippy cups. They are really great and most of them have easy to hold handles for little hands!!! Hope this helps!!

Kaylee sometimes has trouble with Avent cups but the Gerber ones work great. CVS sells Playskool brand that I don't recommend because Kaylee's bottom teeth made little tears in it. We also tried Munchkin ones and her teeth scraped the paint off.

Hey Lorena,
I think Playtex are the best! I've tryed everyone on the market and they just didn't work for my kids. Gerber the suction piece under the lid always came out and fell in the drink, the nuby I liked but it seemed like my kids used it more as a pacifier then a cup, as for Playtex as long as the suction piece is in correctley and the lid is on tight , no problems.

Hi Lorena...I have a 8.5 month old daughter and we too have loved the playtex sippy cups since she was 6 months, BUT I ordered a sippy cup from thermos and it not only is leak proof, but it keeps the water cold for 6 hours!! If you think of your own water bottle gets warm this time of year...so does theirs. It was $15.00 but it is worth it...

Hi Lorena,

I used playtex brand sipy cups with Krystian, and he still uses the ones for his age now!! He could probably sip out of a regular cup but he loves his sippy cup!! The ones for your childs age are wonderful! They have handles on the sides and a longer sipper! I found that it was easier to start a baby on that one cuz the sipper was longer! and the handles! I found them at Babies R Us and walmart! I hope this helps!!

I think I may try the platex based on all your recommendations. Thanks! :) Is there a certain style in the platex that would work best for her?

We have a Nuby and the other generic ones with the hard plastic lids (he doesn't like yet). Does anyone else have trouble with the Nuby leaking? It doesn't leak at the spout unless he shakes it etc., but it leaks where the silicon meets the plastic ring for the lid. We've taken them apart and put them back together several times but it didn't help or get any worse.???

Jenni, my girlfriend said that her sons does leak around the lid area. Mine doesn't have that prolem you should try and return it if you can. Lorena I would try the ones that are made out of the softer plastic with the more rounded spoust rather then a rectangular spout. It seems to be more comfortable in their mouths. They come in packs of two. We use those for her milk and the nuby's for her water/juice. Good luck.

Hi Lorena!

The ones with the two handles on the side and the longer sipper is the one I used when krystian was her age!! I got them at Babies R Us and Wal Mart!! Hope they work for you!! I absolutely loved them!! Those ones didn't leak at all!!
