Molars
My son is 2 and seems to be getting his last molars in.
So for the past 3 days he's been VERY cranky and running a fever.
I've been giving him Motrin which makes him feel better, but as soon as it wears off "ouch" again.
I hate to keep shoving medicine in him, anyone have any advise?

Thanks!
Kim

Hi Kim
I dont recall Nicky having a fever from his teeth but he has had fevers before so maybe it was his teeth ...I would maybe call the doc and ask there opoion on the motrin.
good luck 'Laura

Hi Kim-
My daughter had a hard time with her molars coming in. She also had a slight fever. I tried everything I could find and what I found that kind of worked was a combo of things. I would give her Motrin every 4 hrs., and frozen fresh fruit for them to suck on or ice. You can get the little nets that they can hold on to, so they can slowly suck on the ice or fruit. I got mine at babies r us. I also went to natural whole foods store and they have natural pain pills for kids that our teething. I checked with her dr. first before giving her all at once and she said it was fine. But, to tell you the truth nothing really works great. It's something only time will heal. I hope I could help at all. I know how you feel that they are in pain and you just want to take the pain away. Good Luck!

Hi! Kim I understand your pain my son is getting his last 2 yr. old molar. My son runs a low grade fever also, my dr. said if it isn't over 100 don't worry kids temps run higher, just moniter and if it gets higher give him a cool bath and motrin. I was a dental assisant for 7 years before I stayed home with my son. Remember just because he is two doesn't mean he doesn't like to do the same things he did when he was first getting teeth. Give him a clean sock, his teethers, or what ever he likes to chew on. I gave my son pedia pops. It worked great, it numbed his gumes and put electriclytes in him. Chewy on something will help him break the skin the help the teeth come out easier. Once his biggest bicuspid breaks through the skin it should be much eaiser. Try some baby orajel ( I like the organic). I also got gummy rub. I think I got it at whole foods. It doesn't taste great but it works the best. When you go to the store to pick something up for him pick up something enjoyable for you because this is just as taxing for you also. Good Luck!
