Kids with speech delay
Public online group

Hi.
Hi. I am new to this group. My 2yr old son was born prematurely and suffers from apraxia (feeding and speech delay). He is incredibly smart and is above most kids intellectually but isn't able to speak words or sentences like he should, also has feeding issues. He receives intense therapy to try and get him on track but sadly he won't socialize well with other kids his age bc they can't understand him so he plays by himself and is very quiet around people he doesn't know. It breaks my heart bc he is such a sweetheart. So I'm looking for other moms who experience similiar situations and have advice. In 6mo of therapy he now has a 20 word vocabulary but isn't crisp words. Thank you for any thoughts on how to help him feel confident in who he is and make friends.
