Hello! My name is Melissa and I currently live in Ann Arbor, Michigan with my husband, my two kids, Amaru who is 9 and Paloma who is 7, and my two cats. We are vegan, we have lived in an intentional cohousing community here for the last 5 and 1/2 years, my husband is from Chile, he is very athletic (loves swimming and triathlons) and I love the outdoors. I am an educator (I used to be a public high school teacher in Detroit) but 3 years ago, I followed my dream and I started a small democratic school here. I didn't expect to move so soon after starting my school but my husband is a union organizer who just got offered a job at AFT Oregon and it is great timing because Michigan just became a Right to Work state (boooo!) and he has no job security anymore. We don't know much about Eugene. Can folks fill us in on good neighborhoods to live in and also recommend good alternative schools? Thanks so much!
