Working Mom Anxiety... Need Help

Hi All,

I am recently returning to work after four months without employment. The job is good and the hours are great, and I will have nights and weekends off. But I am still facing such anxiety about leaving my daughter all days of the week.

I dont want her to feel unloved or abandoned and want to make sure she knows that her mommy loves her and works so she can have everything she needs. My husband works too but he workds nights and she doesnt know the change. I would not mind being a stay at home mom but financially that is just unrealistic right now.

My mother in law is amazing and she will watch my daughter during the week, I am truly blessed with that. I need serious help with overcoming this guilt I feel about working. I feel bad even admitting that I am excited about the opportunity. Please help....

Hi Jessica!
Sounds to me like you have a great schedule! I totally understand about the guilt, but once you are all in the swing of your schedule, you will be fine. Kids are amazingly adaptable and after a couple weeks, she will be expecting you to leave and return just as you have been doing. Lucky you for having your MIL take care of her while you are away, too! She will be in the care of another family member who loves her to bits.

A couple things that might make you feel better...when I was little my mom and dad worked full time jobs. I seriously do not for a second recall ever being loved less or neglected! Mom and dad went to work and came home. That was that!

Also, I actually enjoy working, not only because I love my work, but also because the time away helps me appreciate my family that much more.

Hope that helps! Good luck!
Robin
