Hi Christine,
I have a new baby girl of a month and I have to say congrats! The best advice I can give you is try to keep your baby awake during the day. It is hard at first and my baby did the same thing at first. But I started trying to keep her awake as much as possible. When she woke up for a feeding or a diaper change I would try to stimulate her by tickling her feet or playing with with her legs/arms. The thing you have to keep in mind is that no baby should go longer than 5-6 hours without a feeding but it helps when that time is at night. But if you keep her awake during the day then nights are easier.
Another thing that I did was try to wake your baby up for timed feedings during the day. Sit her up and rub her back even undress her. I know it sounds mean but it can help. And if you wake her up right before you go to sleep (even if she just ate an hour ago) she will fill backup and hopefully sleep longer. And one other thing is try to get to her before she really starts to get upset if possible. My baby will whine a bit and I am a really lite sleeper so it is enough to wake me up. So I get to her before she starts to really cry and feed her. That is usually enough for her and she goes right back to sleep instead of wanting to be comforted too.
Good luck and I hope this helps!!! |
