The U.S Consumer Products Saftey Commission is investiagating 14 sling deaths in the last 20 yrs. Parents with kids 4 yrs and under are being urged to be very cautious . New borns are more at risk because the don't have the head control that older kids do. Their nose and mouth get pressed agaist the fabric and they sufficate in one minute to two.
Slings have been known to postion a babies head against their chest which restricts their breathing. This limits the oxygen intake and the sufficate.
If you do use things like this please do the following:
1. Seek a doctors advice and make sure the baby is healthy enough to use it.
2. Look down frequently
3. Change the position of the baby to make sure that the head is always facing up at you. There should be no obstructions. |
