SLEEP

Is anyone having sleep issues with their todder? Mine refuses to nap, and bedtime is a battle too. Today she screamed for an hour about napping, and then proceeded to literally fall asleep in the grocery cart at Trader Joes.  Tonight it took almost 2 hours to get her to sleep. I'm ready to lose it. Help?!

How old is she? My daughter stopped taking naps at two bc she would fight it the whole time and it took awhile to get her out of it bc she too would just try and fall asleep wherever after that I use to just play with her and keep her busy and sometimes get her all wild so she would get another wind and at. Ought for the first week or so she was HORRIBLE with bed time. Not sure if u have. Bedtime routine yet but that really helped also. It's a battle of the wills they try to test u more as they get into this stage bc they want to do things their way and u just have to work with it a little and she will get it. Just wait til potty time... We are doig that now and oh my! I want to run away some days lol!

Stephanie,

I have had the same problem, and it's so frustrating!  It's very, very difficult, but I think you need to stick to your guns about it.  I followed Super Nanny's technique at naps and bedtime, and it takes TONS of patience, but it totally worked.  I also think my son was going through a phase at the time, b/c he was difficult in other areas, as well.  One thing I found out is that it is VERY important to have the same routine for naps and bedtime.  If I did anything differant at bedtime, I would end up with a fight at nap time.  And also to keep the routine on weekends.  I never, ever skip naps, and never, ever skip routine.  I feel like it's a sacrifice that I need to make during this time of my life, and I know that this too shall soon end;)
