I am new this group and thought I would reply to your post. Hope you're still around and that this information is useful. Watkins Park is a great park, there is also a Nature center and small farm there. Allen Pond Park in Bowie is also good and both parks have activities in the summer. You can check out PG Parks and Planning and Kid Friendly DC for more info on activities in the area for kids.
