Hi, my name is Colleen. I have a 4.5 year-old son. I work full-time. I'm 44. My husband is 61. We are originally from Ontario. We moved here 8 years ago. I'd like to meet other working moms. I'd especially like to meet other people who are older first-time parents.
My son's main interest right now is trains - especially Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. He has busy weeks with daycare, nursery kindergarten, and swimming (his favourite), dance, and music classes. He'll probably take soccer again this spring. I like baking (with alternative flours/sweeteners - I'm on a food intolerance diet) and second-hand/consignment store shopping. I'd like to find time to fit in more exercise (especially walking/hiking). My husband likes cross-country skiing in the winter and biking in the summer (last year wasn't too good because he hurt his knee in February - tobogganing - and this year there hasn't been enough snow until now). We like going to the Folk Festival and spending time at Victoria Beach. We also travel a few times a year to Ontario and Alberta to visit family.
I met quite a few people when I was on maternity leave, but it's been very hard to keep up those connections, and make new ones, since I've been back to work. Life-work balance is a constant struggle.
Any suggestions of groups or ways to connect with other working moms would be most appreciated.
Colleen
