hi joy, so glad you decided to join "raising them." i have a special needs son, whom is five now, and has been diagnosed with food eversion, sensory issues, and developmentally delayed since around 7-12 months old. he has been in occupational, and "food therapy" for along time. my son has always craved more physical touch than normal, and used to hate being dirty too. he is now over that issue. he also is over the problem of avoiding touching different textures, except for dealing with foods. he has had a feeding tube since he was 10 months, and unfortunatly, still does. one day he might eat good enough to get rid of it. after all these years of therapy, i see the general concept is to exspose the child with sensory issues to as much sensory input as possible, several times a day till they get used to it,( well even after they get used to it, so they dont regress.) if you would ever like to talk, you could email me, at: tafurma@hotmail.com i would love to hear from you. how old is your son? he sounds like a sweetheart! too bad we live in fl., or we would take you up on the playgroup offer. take care, and hope your son does great with his therapy! |
