Milk allergy

My daughter is 17 months old and we just found out that she has a milk allergy.  She has been getting very severe eczeme so they did blood work to test for allergies.  This is difficult because she obviously doesn't understand and she loves milk, cheese, yogurt, etc everything that contains milk.  We switched to soy milk and she does like that at least.  But my concern is getting all the vitamins and minerals that she needs without giving her milk products.  She is a pretty picky eater at that so it makes it even more challenging.  Any suggestions or information would be helpful.  Thanks.

Look for brands of almond milk, coconut milk and soy milk - but make sure they're organic. Nut milks in general contain more, and better vitamins and minerals than cows milk so you aren't losing anything, and they're delicious! Just be careful of soy, because it is mostly genetically modified at this point in time and can be disastrous for your child's digestive system. Buy organic whenever possible.

My daughter is also allergic to cow's milk but she is also allergic to soy. She is 8 months

At 12 months, her docs will be starting her one of the following:

Rice, Coconut or Almond milk. Right now she is on a formula that is 100% Amino Acids (Elecare) They also have Elecare Jr. for ages 1-5 but it so expensive that I rather buy the milk out of the store

My suggestions:

Make sure your daughter is seeing an allergist, nutritionist and gastroenterologist! They will be your best resource in this case

Read ALL labels! There are so many words that say the word milk without actually saying the word "milk" My daughter's Gastro doc gave me a list and its pretty lenghty. Nowadays, it so easy to read labels because the allergy information is easily found under the ingredients label nicely written in red bold letters

Hang in there and I am here for support

My name is Tesha
