Hi! I am a 25 year old stay at home mommy to Madi, 27months. I am originally from a very small town (about 2hrs away) where I had the support of family, but will be relocating to St. Peters for my husband's desired career change. I had a VERY rough pregnancy and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis a few months after my daughter was born (although I've suffered from symptoms and what we now know are flares since I was a high school freshman).
I am pretty limited as to what I can do physically but really want to improve my health-- I am about 80lbs overweight and have been told by many doctors that the more weight I lose the better I will feel (less stress on the joints) which is a big Duh! lol, but its kind of a nasty cycle with this disease Ive found, in that you want to excercise to improve your condition BUT until your condition improves you can't excercise... Messed up, right? My rheumatologist & orthopaedic surgeon have given me the go ahead to walk as much as my pain will let me and also suggested an excercise DVD from the arthritis foundation that utilizes very gentle resistance bands. I also did aquacise classes this fall and (even though I was one of very few under 50 years old lol) I really enjoyed the benefits from it.
I am looking for other mommies I can trust to build a much needed support network with, as I honestly know no one in the area and am in no way accustomed to city living. I would like to find a few moms interested in taking their tots & strollers out for Very slow, easy-paced, and relatively short walks with, and hopefully increase to stroller-aerobic type groups/activities as I strengthen. I also have a miniature poodle who loves to walk with us and would welcome other mommies with dogs who would like to multitask by excercising their dogs, themselves, and getting the baby some fresh air while enjoying being around adult humans as well lol (as a stay-at-home mom I dont really encounter that much anymore haha)!!
I absolutely LOVE the idea of this Mommy Movement Group and hope to make some awesome connections that can bloom into great friendships. We are looking at moving into the Ridgewood Village Apartments if that helps you when considering locations for me to join up with you, and I really hope to hear from some other mommies with the same interests and maybe even with similar limitations as well! |
