My baby prefers my mother over me

This is heartbreaking, but it appears that my baby prefers my mother, who is the primary caregiver for her, over me. I do understand in my brain that it is only logical given that my mom stays with the baby all day long while I am at work, but emotionally I just can't come to grips with it. Have you been in a situation like that? How did you cope?

I'm acutally new to this site but I've been through a similar situation as you. I'm a new mom of a 9 month old and he stays with his sitter. I feel sometimes he likes her more than he likes me. When he was a newborn my biggest fear was my son isn't going to know who his mommy is, but when I get home from work to see the smile on his face is priceless. During dinner all he says is mamamamama! I'm gone for 8hrs a day and he still knows me. That fear does subside after awhile. Just remember that nobody can be you! You are always going to be mommy! Your baby knows it:) You are lucky that you have your mom to take care of your baby. If you are close with your mom hang onto that. My mom is an addict and I don't trust her enough to watch her own grandson:(
